This function basically gets you the sum of products of array of numbers. Sounds confusing? It’s not.

Example:
See the below image.
You need to multiply
A1 and B1 (5 * 6) = 30
A2 and B2 (4 * 5) = 20
Then finally add the 2 results, 30 + 20 = 50.
This has been done in cells C1, C2 and C3.

All this can actually be done in a single formula:
=SUMPRODUCT (A1 : B1, A2 : B2)
This has been demonstrated in C4.

Similarly, you can use more number of numbers/arrays and the output in a single formula, thereby saving a lot of time and effort.
